My husband, who had a grandparent who was Cape Verdean, had always wondered how he grew an Afro if he was Caucasian. He has been reading it every night, and loves this book. It is definitely a heavier read in parts, but if you have ancestors who were Cape Verdean, I almost guarantee you will keep reading.
